Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Psalms 119:130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
Isaiah 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Jeremiah 23:29 Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
Ephesians 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Ephesians 5:13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,
Is God alive? Is God dead? Would people know if God was alive by looking at how you live and speak? Would they know you believe God was alive by how you live each day? These are pointed questions that should pierce our heart. If you believe God is alive your life should reflect His word in your life. It is not something that you can put in a closet and pull out on special occasions. His word (meaning you hunger and thirst for it) is active and alive in your life. It guides you, comforts you, convicts you, encourages you, gives you hope, gives you peace, gives you strength, and speaks to your heart, soul and mind.
God’s word does not return void, it will accomplish that which He purposes. How does His word become active and alive in our lives if we spend little to no time in it? It can’t. You can never have His word active in your life if there is no word in your life. Do we believe His word when it says “And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
God’s word is active in the lives of those who believe and hunger and thirst for His word in their life. They find their day has no purpose if His word is not in it. They find no satisfaction in what the word has to offer, their satisfaction comes from His word. They walk this earth with the full armor of God.
It is so sad to see the culture consuming the hearts and minds of so many who claim to be in Christ but our culture has convinced them that a full life in Christ can be found without much effort. Our culture tells us that going to church once per week and being a good person is a fulfilling life. This is a lie. A day without His word should be like a day without food or 2 minutes without oxygen. His word should be what sustains our very being.
Oh that we would live in His word rather than trying to blend His word into the culture we live in.
