Plead with Him to stay

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

John 4:25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.” Just then his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, “What do you seek?” or, “Why are you talking with her?” So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” They went out of the town and were coming to him.

Romans 10:20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.” But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.

Quite a contrast between “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” and “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.” I am reminded about the record of when Jesus cast out demons from a man and the people from that town, when they heard of this, the leaders from town came out to plead with Him to leave. In contrast the Samaritan people came out to Him and pleaded with Him to stay. It is all a matter of the heart, mind, and soul. Scripture says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” We have a choice to open the door to our heart, mind, and soul to Him. I wonder if we keep our ears open to hear this knock. I wonder if we expect to hear from Him. I wonder if we have no expectation to hear and we do not seek to hear, how long will it be before we have sealed our ears and hardened our heart and closed our mind so firmly that we are lost forever and without hope? Run to Him pleading with Him to stay.

In many ways

“No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.”

“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”

John 1:32 And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Romans 1:4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Hebrews 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

1 John 4:9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

2 John 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Scripture shows us that man, throughout history, has heard from God but chooses to reject or neglect His calling. Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, We are living in a time with opportunity to proclaim Jesus Christ, forgiveness of sin, and hope in eternal life with Him. Share Christ, speak of Him, tell of your hope, and live humbly serving, following and obeying Him.

Before the world existed

“ And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;”

“And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Proverbs 8:22 “The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth, before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world. Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together

Isaiah 45:12 I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.

It is hard to understand the awesomeness of God who with the word of His mouth He created all there is. I think about those who have fame and prestige in this world. People will drive or fly miles to just see them at a distance. I am not saying there is anything wrong in going to see them but rather making the point of their fame in light of God and His awesomeness. There is no comparison. We set sports players, performers, leaders in almost higher esteem than God. Some may challenge this but when you think about giving your whole heart, mind, and soul to fully humbly serve, honor, follow and obey the Creator of all there is, it appears there is a gap in our lives. It seems as though we state God is first in our life but in reality He is only first when we are sick, broke, hurt, or need divine intervention or direction. We become complacent and negligent in our walk with Him. Make Him more than a passing thought in your life. Look for His leading each day. Listen for His whispers of direction and follow obediently.

Foundation of earth and heaven

“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,”

Zechariah 12:1 The oracle of the word of the LORD concerning Israel: Thus declares the LORD, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples.

Isaiah 51:22 Thus says your Lord, the LORD, your God who pleads the cause of his people: “Behold, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering; the bowl of my wrath you shall drink no more; and I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, who have said to you, ‘Bow down, that we may pass over’; and you have made your back like the ground and like the street for them to pass over.”

Jeremiah 30:10 “Then fear not, O Jacob my servant, declares the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel; for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.

Isaiah 57:16 For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,

The power and sovereignty of God can easily be seen in scripture. Why is it I so easily forget the power, might, purpose, plans, and love of God? Do I not trust the creator of all there is? Do I not have faith in His love, purpose, and plans? Do I doubt He is in control? I wish this lack of reliance and trust were put behind me and I could walk this life in and by absolute faith. It seems as though I have the head knowledge, but the heart, mind, and soul deep belief and trust is always on the fringe. Forgive me Father for you alone is where my service, obedience, and reliance should continually be.

For Whom we exist

“ yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”

“ one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

““Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”

Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

Isaiah 63:16 For you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.

Matthew 3:9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Luke 3:8 Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Job 31:15 Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?

Psalms 100:3 Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Acts 17:25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

It is good to be reminded and know life, breath, and everything is from God and we are His! He made us and we are His people. He has redeemed us. We exist for Him through Jesus Christ. Because of this we are to humbly serve, honor, follow and obey. This will have different meaning to each of us. Yet I have to wonder if we truly believe that He has given us everything and we exist for Him alone. Our culture lends itself to leading us down paths without God. We trust in forgiveness but walk in sin with no thought of whom we exist to serve. We rely on our conscious to direct us but feed it very little with His word. We shut our ears to His leading and expect Him to bless, protect, guide, love, and answer our weak prayers. The thing is we are no different than those of which history speaks. We, like them, get easily distracted by things of this world, lusts of our flesh, and covet what we see with our eyes. These paths of the world should not be those we walk. Our path is the path for whom we exist. To know this path, to walk this path, and to stay on this path we need to continually grow our desire to know and serve Him. Stay in His word each day – serve, follow and obey His leading.

In the Beginning

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

“All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

Psa 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!

Psalms 148:1 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created.

Romans 1:25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

In the beginning God!!!! I understand our desire to keep looking for more and more understanding of science but not at the cost of leaving God out of it. How many have dug so deep they are now a quest to prove how everything came into being without God. Theories and more theories abound trying to prove this. The end of this search is more and more searching. Can you imagine what these hearts would be like if that same desire was placed understanding God and thanking Him for His creation. We do well to keep our eyes on the creator.
