“You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?”
“But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.”
“Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name. “They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.
Esther 6:1 On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.
Isaiah 65:6 Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their lap
Daniel 7:10 A stream of fire issued and came out from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.
Matthew 12:35 The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
Revelation 21:27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
I am intrigued by the comments of “the book of memorable deeds” and “The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.” It does not take long to reflect back on your life and see the hand of God present, or least it shouldn’t. Think back to when He opened your heart and mind to His salvation and you experienced forgiveness, or the times when He carried you through a very tough time, or when He orchestrated your career, or when He saved you from a very bad accident, or brought you through a very bad accident, or blessed you with understanding or peace or joy or hope, or love, or patience, or knowledge, or generosity, or kindness, or courage, or power to overcome, or confidence, or opening His word to you. It does not take much to effort to bring this to mind. However scripture says that when the King was troubled and could not sleep he asked for the book of memorable deeds to be read. We have our own memories to be cherished and to be remembered with praise and thanksgiving to God. And even before these we have His word which was given to us to not only know Him but to know of His power, might, strength, love, mercy and grace displayed throughout all of time and creation. Take time to think about all that God has done in your life and rejoice giving praise to the One who holds us in His hands and will lead us home into eternity.
