32.i. “Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life”

 

Matthew 10:34  “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

 Luke 12:49-53    “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled!  I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished!  Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.  For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three.  They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

 Acts 13:45-46   But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him.  And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

 Acts 14:2   But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

 Acts 14:4    But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.

 Philippians 1:20-21    as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

 Revelation 2:10   Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

The dividing line between those who accept Jesus and those who reject Him runs through families, friends, co-workers, neighbors, towns, villages, states, and countries. A person’s eternal destiny depends upon their response to Jesus Christ. In their response to humbly surrender, repent, believe, follow, trust, obey, and rely on Jesus Christ a person is born again, and in this new birth is where the dividing line is established. On one side there is peace, comfort, joy, hope, courage, strength that comes from and through believing, trusting, relying on, and following Jesus Christ. On the other side of the line are those who do not surrender or repent. They may be of a mind that believes they are doing enough good to be good enough for eternal life. They may be of a mind to flat out deny Jesus Christ exists. Where ever their mind has landed, it has landed on the other side of the dividing line. The dividing line begins in the heart of each person and then is manifested out to others. How many times does Scripture tell us to stand firm? How many times will our heart be tested by those who stand firmly on the other side of the line? 

Every person born is born on the wrong side of the line.  This is clear. Every person is born on the side of the dividing line that leads to eternal hell. It doesn’t matter what a person thinks about this, how they try to perform, or how they try to balance the scales so that they end up on the other side of the line. The line is clear. 

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” 

What side of the dividing line do you stand on?

32.d. “Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.”

 

 

John 3:22  After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he remained there with them and was baptizing. John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because water was plentiful there, and people were coming and being baptized (for John had not yet been put in prison). Now a discussion arose between some of John’s disciples and a Jew over purification. And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.” John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.”

 Isaiah 53:2-3    For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.  He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

 Isaiah 53:12   Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

 Daniel 2:44-45   And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,  just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

 Psalms 72:17-19     May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed!  Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.  Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!

John the Baptist understood it was good for him to become less visible and known, for Jesus to become more visible and known. In even larger aspects, this should be the motto of every Christian, especially leaders among God’s people. Jesus should become greater and more visible, and the servant should become less and less visible.

 John the Baptist shows us that we may be very popular and outwardly successful, and still be humble. John the Baptist had fame and crowds that modern celebrity pastors could only dream of, yet he was an example of genuine humility. John that Baptist also did not quit his work just because Jesus was doing similar work and doing it for more people. He labored on, content to do what God called him to do even though Jesus gained more and more attention and John less and less.

When we intentionally choose in all we say, think, and do, to do for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ, it is then we will not even notice our fading but rather more and more of Jesus radiating in and through us and others. 

31.s. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit”

 

Matthew 7:15  “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

 Colossians 2:8  See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

 2 Peter 3:17    You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

 Isaiah 56:10-11   His watchmen are blind; they are all without knowledge; they are all silent dogs; they cannot bark, dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.  The dogs have a mighty appetite; they never have enough. But they are shepherds who have no understanding; they have all turned to their own way, each to his own gain, one and all.

 Acts 20:29-31   I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;  and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.  Therefore be alert

There are many who would try to guide us along the broad path that leads to destruction.  Being aware of those who would lead people down paths that are filled with human thoughts and ideas is important to each one of us. “The basic fault of false teachers is self-interest.” (Barclay) It can be expressed by a desire for gain or an easy life, a desire for prestige, or the desire to advance one’s own ideas and not God’s. We should pay attention to the content of their teaching. Is it true fruit from God’s Word, or is it man-centered, appealing to ears that want to be tickled? We should pay attention to the effect of their teaching. Are people growing in Jesus or merely being entertained, and eventually falling away?

I have heard several radio and TV personalities speak, preach, and proclaim. Some teach God’s Word with God’s Word and others teach with God’s Word, some humor, and life examples.  Almost all of them limit how much they speak about sin and eternal hell. I am not saying they should speak on it at all times but how is a person to come to a place in their heart, soul, and mind where conviction of sin and the need of saving from eternal hell if it is not proclaimed. Why should I repent, what are the consequences of not repenting, where will I spend eternity, how bad is eternal hell, who is hell reserved for, I’m not that bad so how could God cast me into hell, etc….. Is it possible to come to the saving grace knowledge of Jesus Christ and not be aware of sin and eternal hell? 

We must be on our guard and know God’s Word so that we can be led by the Holy Spirit to rightly discern between God’s truth and man’s folly. There are many who preach and teach truth but also market and sell what God has led them to preach about. This should not be. Be mindful of these pleas for money under the guise of helping do God’s work. I think it is more appropriate to be said like this; “This is our work and our mission and if God leads to you to give we thank Him for your support”. 

There is much to be said about being able to discern the difference between the Holy Spirit’s leading and being led by cunning crafty marketing techniques of man.

31.d. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Micah 5:2   But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.

Matthes 2:6   “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

John 7:42  Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”

Isaiah 9:6-7  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

God made elaborate preparations for the coming of Christ. For hundreds of years before Christ’s birth, the Old Testament prophets had prophesied the coming of the Messiah. They made dozens and dozens of prophecies about Jesus’s life, His ministry, His death, and His resurrection, but many of their prophecies had to do with His birth. Seven hundred years before the event, God pinpointed the place on the map where the Messiah was going to be born. Micah 5:2 says, “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” You cannot really appreciate this prophecy until you realize what a nothing town Bethlehem was. There was nothing spectacular about it at all. But God said that was where the Messiah would be born.

Fast-forward seven hundred years after that prophecy to the days of Mary and Joseph. Here was the problem: God had prophesied that the Messiah was going to be born in Bethlehem, but Mary and Joseph were eighty miles to the north in Nazareth. So how did God get this poor couple from Nazareth down to Bethlehem where they needed to be?

This is nothing short of amazing. Look at Luke 2:1: “Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.” Half a continent away, at the center of power in the world, the Roman emperor was having a meeting with all of his counselors. The government was facing a crisis. Because of a lack of funds, they were facing a government shutdown, so the emperor and his counselors decided to raise taxes. In those days there were no computers to track people down and keep records of their income. So the government leaders had this idea to register everybody in the Roman Empire according to the city of their birth, which meant everyone had to pack a suitcase and travel to their hometown. Luke 2:3-4 says, “And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David.”

Little did Cesar Augustus know that his command to be taxed would cause a couple named Mary and Joseph to travel to a village in Judea in order to give birth to the Savior of the world. Isn’t it beyond our comprehension how God works? God’s gift of Jesus Christ was preceded by elaborate preparation.

31. “So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.”

Matthew 5:17  “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

 Romans 3:31    Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

 Luke 16:17     But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.

 Galatians 3:17-24    This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void.  For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.  Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary.  Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.  Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.  But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.  Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.  So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.

Jesus here began a discussion of the law and wanted to make it clear that He did not oppose what God gave Israel in what we call the Old Testament. He did not come to destroy the word of God, but to free it from the way the Pharisees and Scribes had wrongly interpreted it. Jesus wanted to make it clear that He had authority apart from the Law of Moses, but not in contradiction to it. Jesus added nothing to the law except one thing that no man had ever added to the law: perfect obedience. This is certainly one way Jesus came to fulfill the law. Even though He often challenged man’s interpretations of the law, Jesus never broke the law of God. Faith was never to be separated from the law but somehow man had changed faith into works apart from faith. The more laws they could follow without breaking the more righteous they felt they were. It is as if they were defining what it meant to be righteous by following in obedience to many of the man instituted obligations and rules.  The purpose behind obedience is not for obtaining righteousness but a person’s life committed to that which honors and glorifies Jesus Christ.  Don’t lose sight of this.  Too often people try to do good to outweigh what they have done wrong.  There is nothing wrong with doing good, but there is an absolute wrong when the good is an attempt to make oneself right before God.  Only faith, trust, hope, and reliance on Jesus Christ will right the wrongs in our life. 

29.x. “For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him”

 

Matthew 2:1  Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

 Zechariah 9:9    Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

 Luke 2:11    For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

I read “wise men from the east came to worship him”, “for we saw his star”, and I wonder how long these wise men were looking for the “Star” that pointed to the birth of Christ. We don’t know much about them or how it came about that they were looking for the birth of the king of the Jews. We do know that they believed there was to be born a King of the Jews and that it would be confirmed by a special star indicating both his birth and the place of his birth. The fact they were aware of such an event and believed it and recognized it and then out of an act of faith went to worship Him should not be lost on our reading of this passage.  We are told Christ will return and we are to be ready.  These wise men were ready and expectantly looking with belief that it would happen. They did not have a day or time given to them on when it would happen, but they did have knowledge of what sign there would be when it did and they were ready. We don’t know the day or time of Christ’s return but scripture gives us signs to indicate His return is soon approaching. “But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!

Christ’s return should not find us unaware, not looking, not expecting, or not prepared. When our heart, mind, and soul’s deepest desire is to honor and glorify Jesus Christ in all we say, think, and do, it is then we will have expectation and longing for his return – a form of worship birthed out of faith and lives lived with an intentional expectant purpose and meaning.

29.v. “And her husband Joseph, being a just man”

 

Matthew 1:18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

 Deuteronomy 22:21-24    then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father’s house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.  “If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.  “If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her,  then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor’s wife. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

 Psalms 112:4-5    Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.  It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice.

“Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly”. I can’t imagine what was going through the mind of Joseph when he learned that his wife was pregnant and that it was not by him. Rage, anger, hate, confusion, worry, embarrassment, etc…. would all seem both normal and appropriate.  However, Joseph chose not to go down these paths.  He chose to discard these thoughts and actions.  He chose to be just in a time where it certainly would have been very easy not to be. He did not allow his hurt to overshadow and block doing what would honor and glorify God.  That is not something that just happens.  It is from living and choosing that way. We always have a choice.  There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end, it leads to death. We have free will to choose to live to honor and glorify God or not. When we allow what seems right to overshadow that which is right God is not honored and glorified. Living to honor and glorify God is not a singular event or two during our life. It is a way of life where the presence of God is so real in our hearts, mind, and souls that every thought, every word, and every act is done in the light of His presence.  I heard someone say you don’t want to have God catch you doing something wrong.  The fact is God already knows. He knows our thoughts and actions before they even occur.  Let our thoughts and actions, therefore, be in this light with our deepest desire to always think, speak, and do that which honors Him alone.

29.s. “Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man”

 

Colossians 3:23  Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

 2 Chronicles 31:21    And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

 Psalms 119:10   With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

 Psalms 119:34   Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.

 Jeremiah 3:10    Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the LORD.”

 Ephesians 6:6-7    not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,  rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,

We are always tempted to work just as hard as we have to, thinking we only have to please man. But God wants every worker to see that ultimately, they work for Him. Therefore, they should do it with their whole heart as if they are working for Jesus Christ. God promises to reward those who work with that kind of heart. For ancient Christian slaves and for modern Christian workers, there is no guarantee on earth of fairness of treatment from those whom they work for. Sometimes partiality means that bad workers are unfairly rewarded and good employees are penalized or left unrewarded. Paul assures both our ancient brethren and us that there is a final rewarding and punishment, and with this there is no partiality. (Guzik)

We have all had bosses, supervisors, and colleagues who left us feeling unappreciated, worthless, and not treated fairly. It seems as if going to work is a burden and there is no scenario in our head that can bring back the joy we once had. We can get upset and mad and defeated. We are not slaves and can quit and move on to another job, essentially at will if we find ourselves in this type of situation. We don’t have to keep our eyes on Jesus and be an example, we can just quit. It is hard to keep the thought of “working as if to Jesus Christ” and at the same time being treated unfairly. Scripture is telling us to keep our eyes on Jesus and work as if to Him.  I can’t tell you how many times in my life/career where I lost sight of Jesus and only saw the unfairness of how I was being treated. Just getting up in the morning and going to work was painful. I had fallen into a pity party and, looking back, can see how I was not honoring and glorifying Jesus Christ in these thoughts. Pride and self-worth were telling me I deserve better and ought to be respected more highly. I did not act appropriately. I did not give any thought to my testimony to others through my actions. I did not give thought to being kind, patient, and at peace no matter what circumstance I was in. It was as if I was saying I’ll treat you right if you treat me right.  Where in scripture does it say this? It does not. It does tell us to be long-suffering. 

Jesus is our example.  The Son of God bore the pain of whipping, beatings, and crucifixion. He could have called down thousands of angels and been spared the torture and humiliation but chose to do the will of God.  In such, He gave His life so that we might have life, eternal life. He is our example to follow. Oh, that we would keep our eyes on Him every moment of every day and no matter what comes, no matter how e are treated, we work as if we are working for Him and His honor and glory.

29.p. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

 

Colossians 3:15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Psalms 29:11  May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Isaiah 27:5 Or let them lay hold of my protection, let them make peace with me, let them make peace with me.”

Romans 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalms 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Peace of mind and general peace with others makes life joyful, hopeful, thankful, and limits fear, anger, confusion, and unkindness.  Peace of mind is offered in many different forms and by many different people. They offer their solution to “Finding Peace”.  If you have enough money, lose enough weight, buy the right car, have the right clothes, wear the right make-up, live in the right location, work for the right company, take the right vacation, fly the right airline, use the right insurance company, read the right books, go to the right school, hire the right doctor, use the right financial advisor, do the right meditation, take the right medicine, do the right level of exercise, etc………….. If you just listen to them you will find peace of mind and be at peace with others.  Vanity, vanity, all is vanity. Have you ever found lasting peace, deep in your soul, following the advice of these “Peace offering attempts”? Chasing after peace, in all of these attempts at finding it, will leave a person wanting, lost, and always searching more for it.  Tell me if watching or reading news media gives you peace. Do they ever present a story that gives you peace?  They promote worry, fear, anger, confusion, division, and give little in the way of “Peace of Mind”.  And yet, we turn it on or read it every day.  At the same time, we neglect the Word of God, which brings peace of mind, thankfulness, and hope. This world will offer a peace that will never satisfy and will leave us defeated.  You don’t have to listen to very many people to discern the level of peace in their lives. They certainly don’t speak of joy, hope, or thankfulness.  They seem consumed with just the opposite and don’t even know why.  True peace is in the hands of God through Jesus Christ. It is a peace that passes all understanding. It is a peace that overcomes all adversity.  It is a peace that floods the hearts, minds, and souls, of those who trust in, rely upon, cling to, follow, and obey Jesus Christ.  Their peace is found in Him alone and all other offers of peace are cast aside.  In Him alone we find a peace that is more than hope for tomorrow, it is a never-failing assurance of peace for eternity. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
