51. Unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

Deuteronomy 13:3   For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him

Psalms 66:10    For you, O God, have tested us

Matthew 24:24    For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

2 Thessalonians 2:11     Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,

1 John 4:4    Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

2 Corinthians 13:5-7     Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!  I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test.  But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed.

God’s testing is a gift from Him to us.  We can experience new areas of faith as we grow through these testings.  It is possible for us to see our heart’s “faith” status in and through these testings?  The answer to this is yes if we have determined (Faith) that God is sovereign, in control of everything, has power over everything, and sees and knows everything before it happens.  The answer is no if we have determined (lukewarm or nonexistent Faith)  that God is not in control, He is not powerful enough, and He does not know or see my troubles.

When we have faith in God all things are possible.  We can run to Him in our testing trials and tell Him our anxious worrisome thoughts and seek His refuge, strength, courage, and power to carry us through.

When we don’t have faith in a loving, all powerful, all knowing God we go it alone.  We worry. We complain. We have a pity party. We get angry. We feel alone. We seek self-solutions. We doubt God. We lose hope. We lose peace. We have no rest.

I recently read a commentary that said “God tests our hearts. He wants to know, to find out, to see for Himself, through the circumstances that He creates or allows to occur, what our reaction will be. He does not assume; He does not presume that He already knows. God tests and He is watching.  This is “SO WRONG”.  God does know. It is because of His steadfast love that He is giving us the opportunity to see our heart faith, so we can confess, repent, and turn away from unbelief.

God tests us to show us the faith status of our heart, the commitment status of our soul, and to allow us joy, peace, rest, comfort, and hope when we seek refuge in Him and place the burden of the test into His hands.

When you are walking through a time of testing rejoice!  Because if in this time of testing you seek and desire God’s refuge you will experience and see how awesome God is, you will witness His power, you will grow in faith, and worship, honor, and glorify Him in new and deeper ways.

Cast out fear, God is Greater

“At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them!  But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.”

‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.”

John 7:13  Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.

John 12:42    Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;  for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.

Proverbs 29:25     The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.

Galatians 2:12    For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.  And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

2 Timothy 2:9     for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!  Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.  The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;  if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;

Fear is something common to all man.  Deep down or on the surface it is there.  Fear takes root in the place where there is unknown outcomes. In our heart and mind we formulate what the possible future outcomes could be based on connecting the dots from past experiences or things we have heard or seen.  From an early age we learn either to respect  or fear natural affects of fire, gravity, snakes, bees, wild animals, water currents, speed, etc…. Some of these we have experienced and others we have heard of their affects on others. Sometimes we apply this same thought process to serving God and have fear based on only what is in our mind.  When it comes to serving God, fear should be blanketed in trust and faith in Him.  Trusting God is in control, He is more powerful than whatever I’m facing, He has promised to be our refuge, strength, and power.  He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He can do more than we ask and much more than be can imagine.  Replace fear with Trust and Faith in Him alone who can overcome whatever is or is thought to be before us.

Live With The End In Mind

Therefore encourage one another with these words

Throughout scripture we are told of tribulation and the coming of the Lord.  Why does God tell us this?  I have to think it is to encourage our faith and to trust Him to lead us through everyday of our life for the blessing of not only our life on earth but also for ETERNITY.   I think there are times we lose sight of eternity through the busyness of our daily lives.  We get so caught up in the here and now that we forget His promise of eternity.  It seems so easy to drift away and live luke warm lives instead of abundantly for Him.  What is the prevention and cure to this way of life? Continually repent and stand in His grace.  Desire Him with all your heart, mind and soul.  Live each day to bring honor and glory to Him.  Learn to be a humble servant.  Learn to give more than you get.  (for the record you will never be able to out give God but it is sure rewarding to try)  Learn to hear His voice speak to your heart.  Stay in scripture always.  Speak of His grace, mercy and love everyday.  Seek to be His vessel to use for His glory and honor. Rejoice in this life no matter what. Learn to forgive.  Be at peace with all as far as it concerns you.  Rely on, trust in, and cling to Him alone.  Know the difference between scripture and culture – there is a big difference.  Do not try to perform your way to God.  And in all things give thanks.

Matthew 24:29
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words

1 Corinthians 15:51
I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting

Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” And the twenty- four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying,
“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
and begun to reign.
The nations raged,
but your wrath came,
and the time for the dead to be judged

Called According to His Purpose

Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth

What does it mean to be called and chosen?  We are both called and chosen to be the faithful of God. This calling is from God. He places an understanding within every heart to know Him.  It says in Romans “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them”.  This calling continues through Jesus Christ  where scripture says “But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.  This is all the work of God.  Paul said “what manner of persons ought we to be given this great out pouring of Love from God”.  We do have a choice to humbly live and bring honor and glory to Him.  The choice we make  lasts for eternity.

Matthew 22:14

For many are called, but few are chosen.

Revelation 17:14
and those with him are called and chosen and faithful

Luke 18:7
And will not God give justice to his elect

Romans 1:6
including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose

Ecclesiastes 8:12
Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him. But it will not be well with the wicked, neither will he prolong his days like a shadow, because he does not fear before God
